Missing Link in Sleep, TMJ & Orthodontics Course (HBP1):

Learn How to Harness the Power of Self Correction to Heal & Re-Align the Body by addressing our: Tongue, Posture, Airway, Autonomic Nervous System with the aid of the Homeoblock & POD Appliances

This introductory Homeoblock and POD course will be a 2 day course, provided by Tim Adams, DDS held at the Aviara Institute in Los Alamitos, CA

It's the 21st century and our jaws and faces are steadily getting smaller, resulting in aberrant swallowing and chewing patterns that affect our ability to breathe. Our body must accommodate to these changes leading to postural changes that have deleterious effects on the whole body, not just the mouth and teeth. It is time to transition from a Newtonian to a Quantum approach to understand and treat the cause, not just the symptoms of the myriad of pathologies affecting our patients.

There is a serious increase in the number of patients being seen by dentists with numerous symptoms that aren’t treated successfully. Headaches, dizziness, fatigue, sleep apnea, mouth breathing, nausea, light sensitivity, TMJ, ringing of the ears, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cervical issues just to name a few.

What these patients all seem to have in common is the lack of craniofacial development. This craniofacial dystrophy affects our chewing, swallowing, breathing, tongue position and posture which is largely due to epigenetics influences from the environment (polluted air, lack of hard diet, processed foods, trauma).

Why is this important and how does this relate to dentists and their patients?

Cranial strains and patterns of the cranial bones in our head affect jaw positions that directly affect our neck, head posture, TMJ, cervical stability, spinal column, breathing and autonomic nervous system.

Dentists have the unique ability to be able to help these patients by affecting cranial bone positions utilizing an epigenetic appliance. Improving posture, airway, tongue position and physiologic function by addressing poor craniofacial development allowing patients the possibility of experiencing a wide array of health benefits that can be life changing and lasting.

Sunday, August 20, 2023 (8am–5pm): Review of clenching, bruxing, malocclusion, posture, respiration and why we need the 3 gas system: O2, NO & CO2. Introduction to Homeoblock and the POD

  • Why are we here… There is more to dentistry than restorations, esthetics, smile, makeovers and TMJ.

  • The Modern shrinking face: How did we get here and what can we do to improve facial development, cranial bone positioning, Tongue positioning and osteogenesis utilizing a dental appliance.

  • Understanding and simplifying how the parts and pieces of our body interacts with each other in a quantum way

  • Homeoblock: History, science, clinical cases and certification. Why a gap created with an appliance is beneficial

  • Introducing dentistry to biotensegrity and fascia… A whole new way of understanding how the body compensates to trauma, posture and airway by reviewing and linking these topics: Forward head posture, trigger points, compression, tension, shape, form and how each individual cell nucleus communicates via its own cytoskeleton throughout the body.

  • Nose vs mouth breathing: Why we need the 3 gas system of O2, NO and CO2 – Linking the relationship of the following: Paranasal sinus, blood brain barrier and the hemoglobin unit of each red blood cell. Linking an often overlooked and missed upper airway resistance syndrome with fatigue and anxiety.

  • Defining and Reviewing the Literature on bruxing and clenching and its impact on our patients.

  • Making sense of the multi-defined 3 dimensional words: Mal-Occlusion, posture and respiration.

Monday, August 21, 2023 (8am-5pm): Review of the significance of facial asymmetry, cranial strains, cervical instability and heart rate variability. Putting it all together from intake to intraoral exams and patient communication

  • Examining the bones of the human skull and how dentists can enhance their interaction, function and positions with the homeoblock appliance.

  • Why facial asymmetry is a clue to an underlying craniomandibular dysfunction and how a dental appliance can aid in the bodies ability to self correct this dysfunction.

  • Pod (Preventive Oral Device) Certification and heart rate variability.

  • Reviewing cervical instability and why dentistry can help this debilitating condition that affects blood flow to the brain, cerebral spinal fluid flow and the autonomic nervous system via the vagus nerve.

  • Incorporating cranial strain patterns in your patient evaluation and treatment planning.

  • Intraoral signs and symptoms intake and exam form… Dissecting the real cause (anatomy) and effect (symptoms).

  • Wrap up and review: Putting it all together and how to realistically talk to your patient tomorrow. Simplifying what appears to be complicated.
